about lauren

Hello! I'm Lauren. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Minnesota, and the owner of StarHaus Psychotherapy. I completed my undergraduate degree in social work at St. Olaf College, and received my master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University.

I truly enjoy meeting people where they’re at in their journey, and then partnering with them in exploration. I use a diverse array of therapeutic modalities in my sessions with clients, but tend to focus heavily on using symbol and ritual in self care practices.

I believe that caring for ourselves is a sacred act. I also know that it can be a struggle, not only to find the time to do this, but to feel worthy of self care. My goal as a therapist is to assist you in reaching a place where you are able to understand and internalize your own worth.

I specialize in working with adults and adolescents who struggle with self worth and identity issues. Symptoms of both anxiety and depression tend to stem from confusion about who we are, and a belief that we don't deserve happiness. Sometimes, my clients begin therapy with an awareness that certain childhood experiences have influenced these beliefs and feelings, other times they find it very difficult to trace. Either way, I enjoy working with clients to navigate these issues, reducing anxiety and fearfulness, finding inspiration and motivation to seek wellness.
