frequently asked questions

will sessions be covered by my insurance?

I am not currently credentialed with insurance panels, however I would be more than happy to assist you in verifying whether you have out-of-network benefits. If you provide me with your insurance information before our first session, I will call your insurance to ask about whether your plan includes reimbursement for out-of-network services. If we learn that you do have out-of-network benefits, I will provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I also accept a number of sliding scale clients, and am committed to finding ways to make therapy affordable for all people. If this is not possible with me, I am happy to assist by providing referrals for alternative options. Click the “Contact Me” button at the bottom of this page to inquire about out-of-network benefits or sliding scale options.

how much does therapy cost and what forms of payment do you accept?

I am able to accept payments via credit card, check, and cash. Please click the “Contact Me” button at the bottom of the page to inquire about fees.

how often will we meet, and how long are sessions?

Weekly sessions are recommended as a way for us to quickly establish a therapeutic relationship and keep your progress consistent. However, I understand that weekly sessions are not always feasible for clients, and I am able to be flexible in establishing a schedule that works for you. Everyone is different, and everyone has different needs. We can discuss this more in depth during a free 15 minute phone consultation, or during your first session.

Therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long. If you have a need for longer sessions, we can discuss this possibility during intake.

how long will i be in therapy?

The length of your time in therapy depends on what you’re looking for. Some people benefit from short term, solution focused therapy and can accomplish what they want in just 3 or 4 sessions. Others enjoy the opportunity to meet consistently for months or even years. Still others meet their goals quickly and then continue scheduling sessions on an “as-needed” basis. Once we have established a therapeutic relationship, we can determine together what your unique needs may be.
